The Wonderful Colours of Christmas: the SAR Philharmonic 21st Classic for Kids concerts recap

The SAR Philharmonic 21st Classic for Kids concerts were a resounding success! This remarkable annual musical event is designed to introduce young audiences to the world of the orchestra, dance, drama and vocals. Featuring the highly regarded SAR Philharmonic, the concerts aim to fund music scholarships for underprivileged children and ignite all children’s passion for the joy of music and performing arts.

2023 SARPO Xmas Concert Host

This year’s concerts were held on Sat 2 & Sun 3 Dec 2023 at the Hong Kong Academy of Performing Arts in Wan Chai, with more than 2,350 audience members in attendance over four separate performances. Under the baton of KK Chiu, the concerts followed the adventures of three larger-than-life crayons as they debated which colour embodied the true spirit of the season. Out of the colourful showdown came a realization that every colour – and every performer – has a unique and important role to play in celebrating Christmas.

The story-line, animated backdrop, rousing antics of the professional cast, sparkling costumes and interactive elements, all added up to a captivating family outing for young and old. Kids had the chance to play their own set of jingle bells, waive their self-lighting batons, learn dance moves, enjoy sing-alongs and use their tinsel shakers to support their favourite crayon colour. The audience also enjoyed instrument demonstrations from the SAR Philharmonic players and conducting lessons from KK!
